Shameem Bibi is married and lives with her husband, three children and two brothers. Her husband works as bricklayer while her two younger brothers are shop assistants. Their combined income is 15,000 rupees (just under £100). However, Shameem is a skilled seamstress and decided to start a small business from home to add to household income. She would like to make clothes as well as offering a repair and alteration service. She requested a loan in order to buy a new sewing machine as well as some fabric. She estimates that initially she might earn a minimum of 4,000 rupees per month (around £26) which will grow as she develops the business.
