Cambodia
Loan description:
Sivorn Nai is 38 years old and together with her husband she works as a fisherman. This business provides them with a better income for their family than just rice farming so they have decided to dedicate their time to this. Sivorn and her husband use two boats to catch fish along the floating village, which is a little distance away from their home, and they generally sell their catch directly to fishmongers from their boats. They can earn around $10 a day doing this activity. To improve their income they have decided to apply for a twelve month loan in order to purchase bamboo to make the cages to catch the fish in. Bamboo cages are a traditionally used in Cambodia to catch fish. And Sivorn believes that if they have more and better equipment they will be able to increase their catch significantly.
