Loan description:
Ang Pok is 56 years old. Ang and her husband have been farmers for over 20 years. They own one hectare of rice paddy which gives them a yield of about two tonnes. After harvesting their rice, they work as farm laborers on other farms, harvesting maize. They can earn $7 a day from this laboring. During the rainy season Ang and her husband also catch fish along the Sangke River to sell at the local market. To improve both her rice farming and fishing activities, Ang has sought a twelve month loan in order to buy fertiliser, pay for harvesting and ploughing as well as buy diesel for her water pump. A part of the loan will also be used to purchase a boat to deliver the fish and buy a fishing net to catch more fish for sale. Most of the income Ang and her husband will generate from selling their fish and rice farming will be used to cover her daily expenses and the next rice farming season.
