Loan description:
Rocío Leonor Ojeda Bernal is 26 and married with two children both of whom attend primary school. She lives with her family in the small southern town of Gonzanamá. Señora Rocío runs a butchers. Her main objective is to ensure that her children receive a good education and obtain professional employment in the future. She started her business by initially selling meat on Sundays at the 'ferias libres' or designated days when anyone can set up stall in and around the town's public markets. This helped her to understand the market and customer needs. Señora Rocío did find it difficult but persevered and eventually the business has become a success. Her husband helps out at the shop when he has time but also works as a bus driver. Señora Rocío requested a loan to use as working capital in her business. She has to pay cash when buying from wholesalers often in larger quantities but does receive a discount. She sells on smaller quantities to individual households but has a good profit margin. She intends to repay the loan over nine months.
