Benilda América Jaramillo has a stall in the public market and requested a loan in order to buy various kitchen utensils which she uses to wash, peel and prepare her produce and also to use towards buying stock in bulk. She is 45 and married with five children, three of whom are still under the age of 18. Doña Belinda lives in the neighbourhood of 'El Valle' in the city of Loja. She is originally from the parish of Changaimina near the town of Gonzanamá. She is only one of two children, and her brother died of a heart defect when he was just 21. Her father had alcohol problems. When she was just 15 she moved to Loja and found work as a domestic maid in various houses. She had her first child when she was 18. She has had the market stall for the last ten years, she sells various vegetables including plantain, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and cassava. She intends to repay the loan over 12 months.
