Loan description:
Salustino Mendoza Vicente requested a loan in order to buy fertiliser, good quality seeds and other inputs for the next sowing of his maize crop. He is 49 and married with two children. Don Salustino is from the parish of '27 de abril' near the small town of Cariamanga in the far south of Ecuador. He lives in a mud brick house that he built himself. During the winter months he grows maize and a variety of bean called 'chileno'. After harvesting these he dries them and keeps them as feed during the summer months for his chickens and pigs. Don Salustino makes a living from selling the animals and also part of his harvests. He intends to repay the loan over nine months.
