For the past ten years, Aurora has operated a grocery store selling canned goods, crisps, biscuits, bread, refreshments and toiletries. Her children and other family members help her in her business. For the past ten years, Aurora has been a member of the microfinance organisation Alalay sa Kaunlaran and is requesting a loan of $1050 (40,000 Philippine pesos) to purchase additional stock for her store. She has promised to repay this over a twelve month period.
