Loan description:
Rosa Medina is a small-scale farmer from Malacatos in the province of Loja. She is 25 and single. Mainly she grows tomatoes, peppers, beans and maize. She has been earning a living from farming independently for the past three years or so. She is the youngest daughter in the family and lives with her parents who are now retired. When opportunities are available Rosa also works as an agricultural day labourer on neighbouring farms. She requested a loan in order to buy seeds, fertiliser and also pay for labour to help her plough and prepare the land for the next sowing. It is common to contract labour just before planting or at harvest time as a lot of work has to be done in a short space of time. She intends to repay the loan over 12 months.
Loan added: 29 March 2013
