Ecuador
Loan description:
María Camacho is 50 and for the last 15 years has made a living from making and selling fresh cheese. As well as eating the cheese as it is, cheese is a common ingredient in Ecuadorian cooking - it is soft rather than hard and crumbles rather than grates. She sells in and around the small town of Cariamanga in southern Ecuador. Señora Maria's husband raises and sells chickens and pigs for their meat. The eldest four of their six children are over the age of 18 and live in their own households. The youngest two children live at home and are studying in college. Both hope to continue studying at university. Señora Maria requested a loan in order to use as working capital - she needs to buy milk from dairy farmers on a regular basis. The loan is for 12 months.
Loan added: 29 March 2013
