Victor Chuquiribamba is a young farmer aged 25 from near the town of Cariamanga in southern Ecuador. He is single and lives with his sister and her family. He farms land in the district of Sanguillin growing cassava and sweet potatoes as well as other vegetables. He tends to sell directly at the weekly farmers markets. He requested a loan partly in order to buy good quality seeds, but mainly to pay for agricultural labour that he requires to help him plough and prepare the land ready for the next sowing. He intends to repay the loan over ten months.
