Loan description:
Proeuy Prim is 52 years old and has five children, who are aged between 23 and 10 years. Only Proeuy's two younger children are still at school. Her family lives in Sangke district, which is in Battambang province. Proeuy and her husband farm eight hectares of rice paddy on which they produce wet season rice. Their land yields around three tonnes of rice per hectare. On some parts of their land they are able to produce dry season rice, which they can grow rice twice a year. During the rainy season they also catch fish from the nearby flooded forest, which they sell for around $5 a day. Since they started their farming business they have always used a tractor to help with operations on their farm, but recently their tractor has broken and they are seeking an eighteen month loan in order to purchase a new one. A tractor is vital to their operations since it enables them to farm on time and reduce some of their costs.
