Agbale produces red palm oil in the traditional way of Benin. She is 60 years old and has 4 children whose ages range from 25 to 12 years old. All her children are students. Her husband is a farmer. She sells her product at the local markets and buys the palm nuts in the fields nearby. Agbale has been an oil producer for 20 years and she employs up to 3 people during the periods of intensive production. She has been a customer of the microfinance institution ACFB since 2011 and so far she has repaid 5 loans. She is applying for a new loan to buy 3 loads of palm nut that will allow her to make 270,000F per load, a total of 810,000F. This income will be used to repay the loan, pay her employees' salaries, transport and other costs. With the profit, she will pay for her household expenses and she will also save a for an oil presser that will make the work less tough.
