Loan description:

Jiezel Ruelan, a 34 year old wife and a mother of two children, owns a small "siomai" stall in Tuburan, Cebu. "Siomai" is a small ball of pork, shrimp or meat covered in light pastry and then steamed and served. It is originally from China and very popular in the Philippines. Jiezel has been preparing and selling siomai for the past 3 years. Jiezel thinks her particular recipe is the reason why she has many loyal customers. But as their demand of her siomai increases, the cost of ingredients has also been increasing. Budgeting with a very limited capital makes Jiezel's task harder. With the loan she hopes to avail, she plans to purchase in bulk the ingredients she needs for her siomai stall to meet the demands of her growing number of customers. The money she will earn will be used for the schooling of her young children and to buy new cooking tools and equipment like mixing bowls and steamers to help her prepare more efficiently. Jiezel hopes one day to own several similar small siomai stalls.
