Loan description:
Savoeurn Nhem is 49 years old and married with two children. Her children are 18 and 23 years old and both have their own jobs. Savoeurn and her family live in a village in Sangke district, which is in Battambang province. She farms rice on around ten hectares of land and is able to grow dry season rice on this land. Her crops yield about three tonnes per hectare and she generally sells her crops directly to a local trader. When she is not farming she also catches and sells fish which provides her with another source of income for her household. Every year she rents a tractor to plough her rice paddy which can cost quite a bit of money. To reduce this cost and enable her to farm on time she has applied for a loan in order to purchase a tractor. She aims to repay this loan over 16 months. The income she generates from her farming business will be used to cover the cost of preparing her land for the next farming season as well as cover her family's daily expenses.
