Bolivar

Loan description:

Bolivar Abad is a young farmer aged 24. He is originally from the district of Paltas but about two years ago moved to Catamayo because of better work opportunities. He actually farms land owned by an uncle who has emigrated to live elsewhere. He plants according to the season crops such as beans, maize, cassava and tomatoes. He also raises poultry. Additionally he works making bricks with his brother and he receives a weekly wage for this. He prefers farming though. He requested a loan because it is time to sow the next crops, just before the rains, and he requires seeds, fertiliser and other inputs. He expects to plant around one hectare of land. Bolivar sends part of his profits to his mother at home in Paltas who is ill. He also saves part of his profits because he as plans to buy his own land. He intends to repay the loan over six months.
