Loan description:
Lon Moeurn is 47 years old and married with seven children, who are aged between 27 and 15 years old and only her two younger children are still at school. Lon and her family live in a village in Banon district, which is in Battambang province. She has been a farmer for the past 20 years and now farms four hectares of rice paddy which yields around three tonnes of rice per hectare. Lon stocks two tonnes of this rice for her family's basic needs and sells the surplus out to a local trader. For the past five years Lon has used a hand tractor to help with operations on her farm. Since she got this tractor she has been able to farm her rice on time and reduce the costs of running her farm. Lon is able to farm twice a year as her land is near the irrigation system so she can produce dry season rice. Since her source of funds is limited, she took out a loan in order to purchase fertiliser, insecticide, weed killer and diesel for her tractor. She aims to repay this loan over ten months.
