Edna

Loan description:

Edna Azarcon is a widow with three children aged 31, 33 and 35 and resides in Nueva Ecija province. For the past 17 years, Edna has been operating a food shop which sells coconut water, fried bananas and other snacks. With her savings from this business, she has also established a recycling business. She buys recyclable materials (plastic bottles, newspapers and cans) by the kilo and then resells these to local wholesalers. She has two relatives helping her full-time with both businesses. Edna has been an active member of the microfinance organisation Alalay sa Kaunlaran for the past five years and has already completed twelve loan cycles. She is now requesting a new loan of $1313 to purchase more scrap materials for her recycling shop as well as more ingredients for her food shop. She hopes to hire additional staff in the future. She has promised to repay this loan over a six month period.
