Loan description:

Sinat Vieng is 35 years old and married with five children aged between eight months and 14 years old and three older are at local school. They live in Bakrotes village, Prek Loung commune in Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. They have spent the last 15 years living as farmers. They currently farm around three hectares of land to grow rice, watermelon and green beans on. They generally grow green beans during January and pick up the crops during April and after they pick these green bean they start to grow rice again on the same land. They get a yield from green bean of around one ton per hectare and the yield from the rice around three tons per hectare. During the rainy season her husband Han Vy (showed in the photograph) also catch the fish nearby the flooded forest and they can use this income from catching the fish to cover their family expense. As their working capital is low they have sought a sixteen month loan in order to pay for ploughing costs, buy the seed of green bean, insecticide, diesel for their water pump and weed killer.
