Loan description:
Falie Agossou is 60 years old. She has 7 children, 5 of them at school or college. She used to sell banana bunches long ago but she stopped doing this when she moved to a house her husband built, outside the town. Her husband has always worked in the fields. When they moved to the new house, she decided to start growing maize and cassava. She has been doing this for 20 years. Her husband works in the farm too and they hire up to 9 temporary workers. All the crop is sold to wholesalers. Alongside the farm work, Falie is a producer of gari (a product made from cassava flour) and red palm oil. She buys palm nuts in the village of Fandji. With the income generated by these activities, Falie and her husband have managed to satisfy the basic needs of their family. Falie is applying for a loan of $1000 to buy a new plot that will expand the farm. She also wants to buy palm nuts in bulk and produce oil in larger quantities to meet new demands from customers. With the profits made, she will help her husband with the children’s school fees. She would also like to make some savings to help her children to build their own houses.
Loan added: 1 December 2012
