Nimata is 38 years old, married and mother of 2 children, one of them at school. She has been a producer of gari for 10 years. (Gari is cassava flour, its production involves peeling, grating, squeezing out excess liquids from cassava, leaving it to ferment and then roasting it . Gari serves a major staple food in West Africa). Nimata employs a person to help in the workshop. Nimata makes good profit because she is the only gari producer in the area. She buys cassava in the market of Abadago. Nimata has been a member of the microfinance institution ACFB for several years. At present, she is requesting a loan of $ 1100 that will allow her to buy the required amount of cassava needed to run the business. She intends to repay the loan in 12 months. The profit from this activity will go towards the household expenses but mainly to expand her business by increasing the number of customers.
