Loan description:

Fe Macatingrao is a 51 year old married woman with two children. Her 21 year old daughter has already finished college and is now working as a nurse while her 16 year old son is studying in high school. Her husband, Antonio, is 55 years old and works as a local farmer in Aurora province. For the last 25 years, Fe has been managing and selling different meals in her food shop in front of their house. She serves both breakfasts and lunches in addition to selling snacks, juices and sodas. In another section of her shop, she sells items such as bread, biscuits and toiletries. The microfinance organisation, Alalay sa Kaunlaran has been supporting her for almost 4 years now. She has already completed eight past loans that she has used for the improvement of the shop. She is now requesting a new loan of 40,000 Philippine pesos for purchasing stock in bulk for her shop, especially ingredients for her daily food preparation as well as other necessities like bread, biscuits and juices. She would pay this back over a six month period. She plans to save a significant portion of her earnings for the college education of her youngest child. Her dream is to expand her business someday by converting her present wooden shop into a concrete facility.
