Franco Vinicio Peña Delgado is 39 and now single. He has a son aged 14. Don Franco lives in Catamayo and has a shop selling sports clothing and footwear. He lived in Spain for around nine years and this prolonged absence was perhaps the reason why he eventually separated from his wife. He returned to live in Ecuador when the economic crisis began to bite in Europe. With much regret he comments that he was also affected by the well known pyramid scheme 'Notario Cabrera'. When the scheme failed he lost much of his savings. When he first returned from Spain he bought and sold small plots of land. However, encouraged by a cousin from Ecuador's largest city of Guayquil he opened a sportswear shop - he has focused on trying to sell quality items. He requested a loan in order to buy new stock in bulk.
