Loan description:
Sarieb Or is 51 years old and married with four sons, who are aged between 16 and 24 years old. Sarieb and her family live in Bosknor village, which is in Banon district, Battambang province. Sarieb and her husband, Lang Neal, farm five hectares of rice paddy which provides them with around three tonnes per hectare. They stock two tonnes of this rice for their own consumption and sell the rest out to a local trader. They also grow maize on three hectares of land and the yields they get from this are around five tonnes per hectare. To expand their maize farming activities they also rent two more hectares of land. For the past seven years thay have used a hand tractor to help with operations on their farming land. Since their working capital is currently limited, they have applied for a loan in order to cover their renting costs, buy good quality maize seeds, insecticide, weed killer, diesel for their tractor and to cover any other associated costs for their farming activities. They promise to repay this loan over a period of 12 months.
