Loan description:

Maura Estela Sánchez is 54 and has six adult children. Maura married when she was 20 and worked for many years together with her husband cultivating tomatoes, cucumbers and maize. All her children completed vocational training courses. Maura sells produce on a retail and wholesale basis at the weekly farmer's markets in the town of Catamayo, additionally though she sells lemons. For about ten years she also transported crops to sell in the towns of Piñas and Portovelo which are in neighbouring El Oro province several hours away by road. With their savings Maura and her husband bought a plot of land where they constructed their own home. She is now divorced from her husband and lives spearately with two of her children who both contribute to meeting household expenses. She has stopped taking products to other towns now that she is alone and just sells in Catamayo. She has requested a loan because she needs more cash in order to buy products to sell, she does not have enough of her own crops. The loan is for ten months.
