Tayé is 42 years old and a mother of five children. Her eldest child is 22 and her youngest is 4 and they are all currently in education. Tayé did not receive an education or specific training. However, she set up a business 10 years ago selling tuber yams. Tayé has been a member of the microfinance institution, ACFB, for 4 years and has always honoured her commitments to the institution. Tayé’s business caters to people in Kétou and in Pobè and she is assisted by two paid staff members. Tayé also has a machine that crushes condiments for cooking and she offers this service to neighbours at a cost. Kaye is now seeking a loan of 300 000 FCFA to buy tarpaulin to cover her yams as well as to buy more yams to sell. The profits she makes from her business will be invested in the education of children. She will repay this loan over 12 months.
