Loan description:
Elvira Rosa Pardo Romero is 49 and has four children. She lives in a rented house in the district of Chile near the town of Cariamanga. Doña Rosa runs a small shop selling basic foods (such as rice, eggs and bread) and general household and personal hygiene items. She has been working since she was a teenager in fact, initially raising chickens. Doña Elvira confesses that she has had difficult times also in running the shop and almost had to close on a number of occasions because she lacked capital to develop the business. She was refused loans by a number of financial institutions until she heard about FACES, where she received a loan without formal physical collateral. After repaying her first loan she requested another loan from FACES in order to increase the range of products she offers and make the shop a little more attractive. She intends to repay the loan over ten months.
