Loan description:
Colette Doudouochou is 30 and married with two children, one of whom attends school. Madame Colette has a business manufacturing and selling red palm oil - commonly used for cooking. After buying the nuts she separates them from the stalks and then cooks them in large drums. After cooking, the nuts are crushed and then pressed to produce a virgin oil. This is then heated once again to produce a much clearer oil that can be used for consumption. When required she hires temporary labourers to help her with the manufacturing process as it can be quite labour intensive. She generally sells to wholesalers at the market in Ikpinlè mowodani. She buys the nuts from local farmers in and around her village and sought a loan in order to buy the nuts in bulk and pay workers. The loan is for 500,000 West African francs and repayable over 12 months.
