Loan description:
Mevlida Balikc is 38 and married with two children. She lives with her family in the village of Gornja Lukavica, near the of town of Zivinice in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her son Jasmin and her daughter Emina both attend secondary school. Her husband does not have permanent employment. However, he does find labouring jobs in the construction industry, particularly during the summer months along the coast. Mevlida grows and sells vegetables particularly tomatoes and beans as well as some maize. She sells in the town markets. From the income she earns she can meet many of the household's expenses. After repaying her first loan from the microcredit foundation 'Women for Women International’, she requested a second in order to help meet the costs of purchasing a small piece of land. This would enable her to increase the area she has under cultivation and be able to produce and sell more vegetables. The loan is repayable over 18 months.
