Warietou Isaaka Komoni is 30 and lives in the neighborhood of Sada in the town of Atakpame in central Togo. Warietou sells fabrics and jewellery at the town's Agbonou market. She and her husband have three children aged between 1 to 14 - the eldest two are enrolled in school. Her husband is also a market trader selling pots and pans. Warietou has already received and repaid (three months early) a loan of 600.000 West African francs from the microfinance institution Wages. She has sought a second much larger loan of one million West African francs to increase and diversify her stock. Warietou's business has grown and she has taken on one full-time employee to help her attend to customers. She intends to repay the loan over 15 months.
