Togo
Loan description:
For the past three years Akouvi Dantodji has had a business selling charcoal. She lives in the district of Djama in the town of Atakpame. Charcoal is used by most households for cooking. Akouvi, who is 30, runs the business from a stall in front of her home where she lives alone. She considers her business prosperous and hired an assistant last year. She also took out a loan of 150,000 West African francs last year which she repaid even before its due date. Now she has applied for a loan of 300,000 West African francs to buy stock in bulk. She buys from sustainable sources as the felling of trees is closely monitored in Togo. Akouvi intends to repay the loan over 12 months.
