Loan description:
Sangha Hem is 30 years old and married with one son, who is two years old. Sangha and his wife live in Krous village, which is in Thmor Korl district, Battambang province. Sangha and his wife cultivate five hectares of rice paddy and have been engaged in this business together since they got married two years ago. The crops provide them with around three tonnes per hectare. They grow dry season rice and are able to cultivate their crop twice a year. After harvesting the rice, Sangha sells it to a trader who buys directly from his farm. He keeps around one tonne for his family's consumption. Growing this dry season rice he needs to wait for a period of between three or four months before it can be harvested and sold. To ensure he ploughs and plants on time every year, Sangha has applied for a loan to buy diesel for his hand tractor, insecticide, commercial fertiliser and to cover any other associated costs with this type of farming. Sangha expects to repay this loan over a period of ten months.
