Kossiwagan Kouassi is from the Avedji district of the capital Lome. She is 47 years old and married. She has four children aged between 16 and 25 years - three are still in full time education. Her husband is a retired civil servant. Kossiwagan runs a small store selling various foods. However, her most popular products are water and bread. Kossiwagan looks around in the various wholesale markets to buy the foods at the cheapest prices and re-sells with a small mark-up. She has been a client of the microfinance organisation WAGES for the last four years. Her latest loan request was for 200,000 West African francs in order to buy a large water tank commonly known as 'Polytank'. She stores and sells drinking water.
She expects to repay the loan in 12 monthly instalments.
