Hajrija Ahmetovic lives in the village of Podgaj which is around 25 kilometres from the town of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. She lives with her daughter, who attends primary school, and husband. Hajrija is a farmer. She grows plums on about 15 acres of land, pears on 5 acres and clover on the remaining 20 acres. She sells dried plums and pears. She also raises livestock - she has two cows and she sells homemade cheese and sour cream. She wants to further develop her livestock enterprise and applied for a loan in order to buy sheep, goats and chickens. She intends to repay the loan over 18 months.
