Salimantou is 30 years old and married with five children, all of whom are currently studying. Mrs Chango has been trading in second hand clothes for the last six years as a way to help her husband support their family financially. In addition to this activity she also sells other products such as corn. Since Salimantou has no rival in the area she has managed to acquire a large number of regular clients. She also buys and sells her products at the market in Massè and sometimes at the international market in Cotonou. Salimantou has been a committed member of the microfinance institution, ACFB, and this time is requesting a loan of 450.000FCFA, to replenish her stocks of used clothes and meet the demand of her customers. The profit on this loan will help me help my husband to support our family and especially to save for the acquisition and construction of a plot of land she says proudly. Salimantou will repay her loan over 12 months.
