Loan description:

Maria Cecilia Onong is 29 years old and married with four children aged 13, 10, 7 and 4 respectively. They are all studying in a local primary school near their home in Binabag, Pinamungajan in Cebu province. Her husband, Marvin, works as a driver. For the last four years Cecilia has managed a small vegetable stall in the town's public market. She sells a variety of vegetables including onions, garlic, ginger as well as tomatoes. They are popular ingredients in most Filipino cooking. Maria Cecilia also sells string beans, cabbages, bell peppers and squash. Her strategy is to stock a small amount of everything. She is preparing for the time when her children enter high school and college, because she will have higher education expenses. Maria Cecilia applied for a short-term loan from the microfinance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, to use as working capital buying new stock as and when necessary. She also intends to make some modifications to her stall so that it is more attractive. She has already received and repaid three loans previously. She hopes to open a stall in another part of town one day.
