Loan description:
Presentacion Unabia is 57 years old and married. She has two grandchildren aged 8 and 6 who are both studying in primary school and live with her. Her husband Gaudioso, who is 60, works as a farmer. She lives, together with her family, in the neighbourhood of Tajao which is in the town of Pinamungajan in Cebu province. In order to add to household income, about ten years ago Presentacion decided to start a small business baking a type of bread called 'Visayan'. It is a popular bread that is eaten for breakfast and as a snack at all times during the day. Presentacion always uses high quality flour, butter, milk and sugar as ingredients. Additionally she often accepts special orders to produce other snacks and foods from neighbours for special occasions. She uses traditional methods to prepare and bake the bread. Presentacion sought a loan from the microfinance organisation Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative where she has been a member for eleven years in order to purchase ingredients in bulk. She hopes one day to own a much larger bakery and plans to repay the loan over a period of 12 months.
