Carmelita Milallos is a 41 year old wife and mother of 3 children aged 12, 10 and 9 who are all studying at primary school. She is married to her loving husband named Antonio who is 43 years old. Her family lives in the neighbourhood of Maranding which is located in the town of Lala, Lanao Del Norte province where the couple mutually manage a business that sells different vehicle parts and accessories. For the past 6 years of its operations, the shop has managed to cater for all the needs of the drivers and operators in their area who want to find high quality services - in terms of providing durable and affordable parts for motorcycles, motor-cabs, jeeps and cars. Most of the products available in the business are tires, oil, stickers, metal and plastic parts. The shop also offers a service for the repair and maintenance of vehicles to re-condition them and make them look brand new. Carmelita currently employs 2 helpers who assist them in addressing the needs of the customers. She is primarily responsible for maintaining the good financial standing of the shop while her husband buys the supplies and does the regular operations of the business. The microfinance organisation, Maranding Women Investors Multi-Purpose Cooperative has been supporting Carmelita’s business for the past 4 years. It has actually given 6 previous loans which were helpful in making the business progress continuously. She has applied for a larger loan this time in order to acquire more vehicle spares since the number of customers is increasing nowadays. In this way she and her husband can serve these people better by giving them a good number of products to choose from without sacrificing on price. Carmelita is also a depositor of MWIMPC as well as a micro-insurance holder and mobile banking card user. Her dream is to provide for the education of her children until they finish college. She only wishes to continue offering the best customer care to her community through her business. She intends to repay the loan over a period of six months.
