Jackeline Solano is 32 years old and a single mother. She used to work as a farmer together with her mother. However, she had her baby a year ago and decided to look for something less tiring and that permitted her to spend more time with her son who was born with an inability to move his legs easily and needs physiotherapy. Jackeline comments that when her partner realised that the baby would be born with a disability he abandoned her and has not contacted her at all even though her child is now one year old. Jackeline receives the 'Solidarity Bonus' or small monthly government allowance for low income families or others in difficult family circumstances and this helps paying for medical treatment for her baby. Jackeline sells women's cosmetics as an itinerant trader and has sought a loan in order to buy new stock to sell. Her ambition is to buy a plot of land and construct her own home, she currently rents, where she can live with her mother and son.
