Loan description:
Fanny Cuenca is a 56 year old widow. She has six children, although only two of them still live with her as they are still studying. She lives in a rural part of Catamayo called San Pedro de la Bendita. She receives her husband's pension as he was a state employee. When her husband was alive they ensured that all their children received a good education. However the pension she now receives is insufficient to cover household expenses therefore Fanny continues to manage her small general shop although she also receives some economic assistance from her elder children. She sells a wide range of general household goods and basic foods. Most of her customers are people in her neighbourhood. She started off selling very few items but has gradually increased the items she stocks over the years. She has sought a six month loan from the microfinance institution Fundacion FACES to buy extra stock.
