Loan description:
Aged 38, Ama is a married mother with 3 children. Her children are aged between 12 and 20 and are all either in or have finished their education. Ama’s husband works as a retailer. The family all lives together in the neighbourhood of Anagokome in Atakpamé. Ama works in a very particular sector: she recycles used bottles. The bottles that they recycle are those that would otherwise be left lying around causing clutter in houses or outside. Ama sources the bottles, cleans them and sells them into responsable industries. She has run this business since 2007. She now sources her stock, her primary material, from Atakpamé and the surrounding area. Ama’s business is doing very well and she thinks there will be good days ahead for it. With the objective of revitalising her business, Ama has turned to the microfinance organisation WAGES in order to make a request for her first loan. She is seeking a loan for 150,000 West African francs over 12 months so that she can purchase enough bottles to expand her business. Ama hopes to create enough revenue to ensure the good education of her children.
