Loan description:
Seab Kdeb is 41 years old and married with eight children, who are aged between five and 22 years old. Her five younger children are studying at the local government school and her elder children have their own jobs. Seab and her family live in Sdey Krorm village, which is in Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. Seab and her husband, Ron Ren, are farmers and presently farm two hectares of land. The yield from their land is approximately 2.5 tonnes per hectare and one tonne of this rice they keep for their own consumption. Aside from farming rice they also raise two cows and have been engaged in animal husbandry for the past ten years. This additional business provides another source of income for their family. To farm consistently every year they have applied for a loan in order to pay for the cost of ploughing, buy good quality rice seeds, commercial fertiliser, insecticide and weed killer. They aim to repay this loan over nine months (the photograph is of Seab's husband, Ron).
