Loan description:
Sary Soy is 50 years old and married with four children. Her youngest is 18 and the eldest is 26 years old; the two younger ones are attending the local school while the eldest are married and live separately. Nowadays they live in Watkandal village, Raing Kesey commune in Sangke district, Battambang province. Sary and her husband, Khona Phlek have been farmers for almost their entire lives and currently farm two hectares of rice paddy. This year the yield gives them two and a half tons per hectare. One ton and a half of this they stock for their own consumption while the rest they sell to local traders. To expand their rice sales they have applied for another loan in order to buy one more hectare of rice paddy and grow more rice. They intend to pay back this loan over 14 months.
