Loan description:
Sing Ang is 42 years old and married to Sa Voeurn Vong. They currently have five children: the eldest is 23 and the youngest is 14 years old and only the two younger ones are still at the government school as the elder ones now have their own careers. They live in Watkandal village, Raing Kesey commune, in Sangke district, Battambang province. Having been farmers for the past 15 years, they now farm ten hectares of rice paddy. On average the yield provides them with around two tons per hectare; they keep two tons of this rice for their own basic needs and sell the rest to local traders. To increase their household income, they launched another business buying and selling fish, which they have now done for the past ten years. They generally buy directly from villagers at the lake and over two or three days use their hand tractor connected to their cart to deliver their fish in bulk to middlemen in their village. As their working capital is currently in shortage, they have sought a loan in order to expand their fish stocks and level the land to stock enough water for their rice. They plan to return the loan over 14 months.
