Celia Victoria Sanchez is 76 years old. Although married she separated from her husband many years ago. She has six children which she brought up alone and is quite proud of the fact that all of them at least completed primary school. All her children are now adults and do assist her economically from time to time. One of her daughters provides her with accommodation in her house, for example, as she never managed to own her own home. Celia struggled to earn a living from farming which was her original profession, so she decided about 12 years ago to instead open a market stall selling chicken. She was advised by her children and some friends that this would be far more profitable. It has proved to be the case and Celia has also thought of selling vegetables as well. She sought a loan from the microfinance organisation Fundacion FACES in order to use as working capital, buying new stock as and when necessary. The loan is for six months.
