Ceferino Chamba is 74 years old. He has spent his whole working life as a small-scale farmer. He raises poultry as well as growing crops - his main crop is maize. His wife is 64 years old and suffers from ill health, and frequently needs medicine. They live from Don Cerefino's earnings. He sought a loan from the microfinance organisation Fundacion FACES in order to prepare his land for sowing maize. He sells most of his crop. He intends to repay the loan over six months. He has received and repaid several loans already.
