Loan description:
Rosa Encalada Yaguana is 61 years old and separated from her partner many years ago. She has eight children, two of whom are still below the age of 18 and live with her. For the last seven years or so she has run a small general convenience shop and this has been the main source of household income for her family. She also receives the government's 'solidarity bonus' - a small stipend for those classified as being low income families. The shop does not provide her with a high level of income but income is regular and stable and as she commented 'I always have enough for our daily meal'. Previously, she used to take in other people's washing, but she found it increasingly difficult and her health suffered. She has sought a ten month loan in order to purchase extra stock for her shop.
