Rosalina

Rosalina Montellen is 52 years old and married with six children. All of her children are now adults, work and have their own families. Rosalina and her husband, Florentino who is 54 years old, live together in the neighbourhood of San Jose, which is in the town of San Isidro, Leyte province. Both Rosalina and Florentino work as farmers and primarily grow maize but also grow a number of different kinds of vegetables. Rosalina visits their small farm everyday to check their maize and vegetables are growing healthily. They have been farming for 32 years. They sell their maize harvest to local traders while their vegetables are delivered to vendors in the local market. The microfinance organisation, Omaganhan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative approved Rosalina a sixth loan so she can buy fertiliser and other farming inputs. She plans to save a part of their earnings in her deposit account in the institution to prepare for their future. She intends to repay this loan over a period of six months.
