Loan description:
Ambrocio Granda has a fruit and vegetable stall in the public market in Catamayo. He is 60 years old and has three children, two of whom are now adults while the youngest is 12 years old and still at school. Many years ago he used to work in the large local sugar factory. However, he reached the retirement age and had to leave but he needed to carry on working so he opened up a stall in the market. He sells onions, potatoes, carrots, pineapples, oranges and papaya among other items. Ambrocio also has a small pick-up truck which he uses to buy and transport goods from farmers and wholesalers. He sought a loan from the microfinance institution Fundacion FACES in order to buy a large quantity of stock. The loan is repayable over six months.
