Loan description:
Chhub Phoeur is 55 years old and married with ten children, who are aged between 26 and five years old. His three younger children are studying at the local school while his elder children have their own jobs and live separately. Chhub and his family live in Pok Chhmar village, which is in Sangke district, Battambang province. Chhub is a labourer and has been working in this business for the past 20 years where he can earn around $4 a day. Chhub's wife, Ley Khounh, is a farmer and farms half a hectare of land which provides just enough for their family's own consumption. Chhub and his wife also raise cows from their home to supplement their income and at the moment they have two cows. To provide the basic needs for their family, including a decent home to live in, while their source of funds is currently limited, Chhub has decided to ask for a nine month loan in order to buy wood and zinc to build a new home (the photograph is of Chhub's wife, Ley).
