Hasiba Brkic is 54 years old and married. They live in the village of Dobraljevo near to the city of Busovaca in central Bosnia. Their children got married and now live separately. Her husband has worked as a woodcutter in the local wood for all of his life. Hasiba wanted to help her husband by providing some of their income herself. She a started business raising livestock. She has a cow and produces milk and homemade cheese which she sells in the city. She also knits: she makes scarves, gloves, hats, sweaters and another such items. She has managed to expand her business and has a lot of customers. She is very pleased because it brings in significant income. For all of their life they have lived honestly and worked to provide an example for their children in how they should live their life too. Hasiba has been a very good client of the microcredit foundation, Women for Women International, for the last five years. She has now applied for another loan because she wants to expand her business and start farming corn so she needs the loan in order to prepare soil for sowing and to buy seeds.
